Salt-Grilled Sayori
Delight in the simplicity of Salt-Grilled Sayori, a traditional Japanese dish. Enjoy the delicate, tender texture and subtle flavors of grilled needlefish, seasoned perfectly with just salt, creating an exquisite seafood experience. This recipe makes 2 servings.
Ingredients:
- 2 pieces sayori, or halfbeak
- 1 tbsp sake
- 2 pinches salt
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions:
- Remove the scales and the internal organs from the sayori.
- Place the cleaned sayori and sake in a baking pan, mix gently with your hands, cover with plastic wrap, and leave in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
- After 15 minute, wipe off any excess water with kitchen paper and sprinkle salt on both sides of the fish. Preheat oven to 400°F
- Brush the grill with oil and place sayori on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 400°F for about 10 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Top with lemon wedges.
